An off-duty police officer was arrested in Long Island City for driving drunk and refusing to take a breathalyzer test on Sunday.

According to police, 39-year-old Hitesh Arora was driving in the vicinity of 11-24 Borden Ave at 10:04 p.m., when his car stalled.

Arora, who has been on the force for three years at a Brooklyn precinct, was driving his own car when it got stuck on the LIRR tracks on Borden Avenue.

When police and FDNY arrived, they smelled alcohol on his breath and saw that he was “unsteady on his feet,” an NYPD spokesperson said. Arora then refused a breathalyzer test. He was charged with first-degree DWI, obstructing a highway railroad crossing and refusal to take a breath test, police said.

According to the Queens District Attorney’s office, he was issued a desk appearance ticket. A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office said she does not yet have the official court date for Arora.
