A commercial building filled with local shops and restaurants in Jackson Heights will be turned into a seven-story, mixed-use building.
Permits were filed to build 44 apartments and two floors of commercial and community facility space at 77-02 Roosevelt Ave. The structure on the corner of the block currently houses a Metro PCS, restaurants La Chipotle and Arepa Lady, a pharmacy, an athletic wear store and Olympia Billiards.
The apartments will span 31,719 square feet while the ground-floor commercial space would span 13,504 square feet. About 3,657 square feet of space will be designated for community facility space, which can house medical offices, schools, libraries or child care centers.
The apartments would be located on the third through seventh floors and tenants will have access to 33 parking spots in the cellar. According to the plans, six parking spaces would also be provided in a lot next to the structure. Cyclists will also be able to park their bikes on one of 22 spots in the building.
Tenants will have easy access to several train lines including the 7, E, F, M and R trains.
Vishal Arora, of 41-25 Realty Corporation, owns the building and Fogarty Finger Architecture is responsible for the design.
