What started as a call about a trespasser in Maspeth on Thursday morning ended with the arrest of a Jamaica man who allegedly had a big stash of pot in his possession, police announced.

William Cairns, 30, of 164th Street was taken into custody at a vacant home on 69th Lane just north of Grand Avenue at about 11:13 a.m. on Dec. 29.

Officers from the 104th Precinct responded to the location after receiving a 911 call about someone trespassing on the property. Once they arrived at the scene, police entered the home and found Cairns inside.

They also found that he had with him five large bundles of marijuana, the exact quantity unknown, packed in vacuum-sealed bags.

One of the responding officers, Police Officer Sean Hynes, took Cairns into custody on charges of criminal possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal trespassing.

Deputy Inspector Mark Wachter, commanding officer of the 104th Precinct, congratulated Hynes’ work on Twitter: “Great work Officer Hynes, arresting a man trespassing in a vacant building, in possession marijuana #NYPDprotecting.”
