A 46-year-old man, who was extremely intoxicated, according to police, was struck by an MTA bus in Elmhurst Monday night and is fighting for his life. The man wandered between parked cars and traffic on Roosevelt Avenue, near 78th Street, when he was hit and critically injured just before 9 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The 54-year-old bus driver told police he never saw the pedestrian. When officers from the 110th Precinct arrived on the scene, they said they found the man asleep and snoring loudly, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.

The pedestrian was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center in critical condition. The bus driver stayed on the scene and was not arrested. An investigation is ongoing.
