Taste of Sunnyside
April 24, 2017 By Christian Murray
Tickets are now on sale for the 2017 Taste of Sunnyside.
The event, organized by the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District, will feature about 25 restaurants and will once again take place under a block-long tent on Queens Blvd (between 45th and 46th Streets) under the elevated 7 train.
The event, scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, will showcase the cuisine offered by Sunnyside’s diverse range of restaurants and attendees will be able to sample the food prepared by each of the participating establishments.
This will be the seventh Taste of Sunnyside, the fourth to be held outdoors under the big tent.
“The Taste of Sunnyside is one of Sunnyside’s biggest annual events for a reason—the combination of diversity and community spirit is like no place else,” said Jaime-Faye Bean, executive director of Sunnyside Shines. “95 percent of attendees have told us that they plan to return to a restaurant they sampled the first time at the Taste, which says a lot about the quality of their experience.”
Given the diversity of neighborhood restaurants, the selection of ethnic food is likely to be vast. For example, there will Tibetan food provided by the Tibetan Dumpling Café to Mexican cuisine offered by De Mole.
The event will also feature new additions, such as Boon by Moldova, Dayboat and Ida’s Nearabout.
This year’s event includes plenty of local beverages as well. Two Queens-based breweries will serve tastes of their beers, including Big Alice Brewing and Queens Brewery.
