A badly decomposed body was discovered floating in the East River just off Hunters Point South Park in Long Island City just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the NYPD.
Police responded to a 911 call and an NYPD Harbor Unity responded and pulled the body of an unidentified man from the waters and transported it to a nearby dock at the Hunters Point Ferry landing near 54th Street where EMS pronounced the man dead.
The age of the man has not been determined, police said. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
The investigation was still ongoing, according to the NYPD.
