Queens’ most popular dog names last year favor the Italians among us, according to the city Department of Health.
A check of all the dog licenses issued in 2016 shows that Bella, for the second year in a row, is the most common name for female dogs in the borough. Luna and Mia are also among the top 10 names for girls.
Max is the most popular male name, also for the second time is two years. Milo and Rocky are also in the top 10.
Oddly, the name Coco is doing double duty. It shows up among Queens’ most popular pup names for both males and females.
The department also did some neighborhood breakdowns to discover how certain areas favor certain dog names.
In Bayside, for instance, Mandy is ranked No. 10 in the neighborhood but 117th in the city as a whole.
In Kew Gardens, Momo — the name for a southeast Asian dumpling — is ranked No. 3 among popular names but 171st citywide.
