Art lovers will have the opportunity to see more than 150 murals this month when the Wellington Court Mural Project holds its eighth annual exhibit in Astoria.
Beginning June 10, the art will be on display on many streets throughout Astoria, with several of the murals going up near 11-98 Welling Ct., between 30th Ave. and 12th St.
The project began eight years ago when members of the Wellington Court community invited Vermont-based Ad Hoc Art to help beautify their section of the neighborhood.
Ad Hoc Art is an art organization that launched in 2006 and focuses on street art, pop surrealism, lowbrow, illustration, comic book, tattoo, and printmaking, as well as the larger and extensive history of underground art, activism, and graffiti.
Artists on display for the Welling Court Mural Project include: Abe Lincoln, Jr., Adam Dare, AM, Alison Buxton, Andy Golub, AVOID, Beau Stanton, BIA3, Billy Mode, Cake, Caleb Neelon, Cekis, Cern, Cey Adams, Christopher Cardinale, Chris RWK and many more.
