Hivewild to be Hunters Point South Park

Long Island City will hold its first outdoor dance festival next month.
The two-day event, titled Insitu Site Specific Dance Festival, will take place on July 8 and 9, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event will take place on four Long Island City waterfront parks and feature 75 performances by 24 NYC-based choreographers.
The festival is being put on by KINEMATIK Dance Theater, which is a New York- and Lima-based urban contemporary dance company that creates, performs and produces large scale site-specific performances.
KINEMATIK’s goal is “to activate public spaces through dance and create community through the arts.”
Performances will take place at various sites within Hunters Point South Park, Gantry Plaza State Park, Queensbridge Park and Socrates Sculpture Park.
Contemporary and urban dance companies will make stages out of a ferry landing, railway tracks, picnic tables, walkways, promenades, an old school bus, a sand field, benches and more.
Performances range from solos, duos and quartets to group works with casts as large as 35 dancers.
