Community leaders announced details about the upcoming third annual “Flushing Night Out.”

The annual community night market, hosted by Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Aug. 18 -19, and run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. both days. This year the event will take place at the Flushing Meeting House on 137-16 Northern Blvd.

District Leader Peter Tu, Councilman Peter Koo (D-Flushing), and John Choe, executive director of the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce, made the announcement.

Every year Flushing Night Out takes place at a different location to highlight the unique historical landmarks in the area and bring the community together to experience the world heritage unique to Flushing. In previous years the event was held at Flushing Town Hall and the grounds of Flushing High School. According to Choe, the landmarked Flushing Meeting House location was chosen this year so that visitors have the opportunity to explore the historic site, which is the oldest house of worship in New York, and its beautiful grounds while enjoying artisanal food, crafts, and music from local artists.

Legends of Motown Revue and Session Band will headline the event. Choe said the music played will be an explosive mix of local musicians playing everything from R&B to punk rock.

“Flushing Night Out offers a unique mix of arts and culture from around the world as well as delicious food from our diverse community,” Choe said. “We want to showcase the fantastic community and are proud to partner with the Flushing Meeting House to provide an unforgettable summer weekend of history mingled with food and music.”

The food featured at the market will come from Flushing restaurants and businesses, including Dumpling Galaxy, Sam’s Fried Ice Cream, Joey Bats Sweets, New Asian Foods, In Patella, Cat Mint Wheel, Lezzetli’s Ice Cream, Gi Hin Mama Food, Karl’s Balls, John B Cafe and others.

Flushing Night Out is currently nominated for the “Best of the Boro” Award for Best Annual Festival.

Koo said Flushing Night Out is the best example of Flushing’s limitless potential.

“This is a night for the best attractions of our community to come together and show themselves off,” he said. “If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. Thanks again to the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce for organizing another innovative community event in our community.”

There will be a special preview from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with $5 admission at the night market. Proceeds from the preview will go towards the preservation fund of the Flushing Meeting House. From 7 p.m. onwards, the night market will be free and open to the public.

Assemblyman Kim thanked John Choe for organizing the event.

“Flushing Night Out is an opportunity for all of our residents to come together and showcase the innovation, diversity, and vibrancy of our growing community,” Kim said. “I highly encourage anyone who has never been before to come see what a place like Flushing has to offer, and I am sure that previous attendees are eagerly looking forward to this year’s edition.”

Tickets are available on Eventbrite. Details on the event are posted on the “Flushing Night Out” Facebook event page and website.
