A Kew Gardens man succumbed to his injuries after he was hit by a car earlier this week, police announced on Wednesday.
At around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at 120th Street and 85th Avenue. Upon their arrival, they found Christopher Swanson, 71, lying in the roadway with trauma to the body.
EMS responded to the scene and transported Swanson to Jamaica Medical Center. Swanson died of his injuries on Tuesday, Aug. 1.
A preliminary investigation found that Swanson was attempting to cross 120th Street mid-block when a 38-year-old man operating a 2015 Honda Odyssey was attempting to reverse on 120th Street and struck Swanson. The vehicle remained at the scene following the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
