A 12-year NYPD veteran was arrested in Long Island City on Thursday morning after pulling a gun on a teenage cyclist that he previously almost hit with his car.
According to police, Bradley Beamer, 40, was arrested on Sept. 21 at about 5:58 a.m. and charged with menacing, assault and harassment.
The Daily News reported that Beamer was driving his car near Scandals, a strip club at Queens Plaza North and 24th Street, when he made an illegal u-turn and almost hit a group of cyclists. It was the day after Beamer’s 40th birthday.
Beamer got into an argument with a 16-year-old cyclist at about 3 a.m. and the fight continued after the off-duty officer parked his car. He then pulled out his gun and waved it at the cyclist before pushing him off his bicycle, according to the report.
The cyclist suffered cuts to his leg but did not seek medical attention.
Beamer was issued a desk appearance and ordered to appear in court on Oct. 20, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.
