An alleged thief from Queens who was busted after getting into a fight with a car owner in Nassau County has been linked to 13 tire-and-rim thefts on the county’s borderline, police reported.

Benjamin Camille, 24, of 230th Street was arrested on Sept. 23 in Elmont, according to authorities. He faces charges including first-degree auto stripping, third-degree grand larceny and 13 counts of fourth-degree grand larceny.

At around 5:45 a.m., Nassau County Police responded to a 911 disturbance call on Home Street, where authorities discovered Camille struggling with a male victim, 41, inside of a Honda Civic.

Responding officers were able to subdue Camille and determine that the suspect had removed four tires and rims from the victim’s 2017 Honda Accord and placed them into the trunk of his Honda Civic. He was placed under arrest at the scene.

Upon further investigation, authorities were able to link Camille with thirteen separate tire and rim thefts in Nassau County spanning the months of September, August and July. Concentrated in the Elmont area, the suspect solely targeted Honda Accord models.

Camille was arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 24.
