Sept. 11 events planned in borough

What: The 9/11 Run for Ritchie is a motorcycle run commemorating Richard Allen Pearlman, the youngest first responder lost that day at 18 years old. It commemorates the 16 year anniversary of all who served, protected, volunteered and lost their lives on 9/11.

Time: Sunday, Sept. 10 (Registration at 11:30 a.m., ride begins at 1 p.m.)

Location: Resorts World Casino, Jamaica

What: Historic Poppenhusen Institute is hosting a Sept. 11 Remembrance Day Concert. The program includes performances by the Tarumi Violinists and Mary Courtney and words of reflection and hope from pastors.

Time: Sunday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m.

Location: 114-04 14th Rd., College Point,

What: Groundbreaking ceremony for the Memorial Park at JFK Airport honoring those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center attacks. Sponsored by JFK Chamber of Commerce.

Time: Monday, Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Location: JFK Airport, Federal Circle, next to Building 141

What: Doughboy Park Patriots and Woodside on the Move are hosting a candlelight vigil and a flower ceremony. Names will be read from a plaque on the wall as flowers bearing the names of victims are placed in a vase. A choir from St. Mark’s Church and vocalist Michelle DellaFave will sing. There will be prayers and recitations. Members of Ladder 163 and Rescue 4 will be present with their captain and the 108th Precinct.

Time: Monday, Sept. 11, at 5:30 p.m.

Location: Doughboy Park at Woodside Avenue and 56th Street

What: Bayside Hills Civic Association is hosting a ceremony in remembrance of Sept. 11. Bring a candle in a glass to set around the plaque. They will pass out flags and play patriotic music.

Time: Monday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Location: Memorial Garden on the north side of Horace Harding Expressway at Bell Boulevard

What: Engine Company 331 and Ladder Company 173 will host a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony. The community is invited to engage in words of comfort, music and prayer, and refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

Time: Monday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m.

Location: 158-57 Cross Bay Blvd., Howard Beach

What: 9/11 Candlelight Vigil Committee of Queens will host an event to celebrate America’s strength and honor soldiers and those who offer protection. Attendees are invited to bring a flashlight or candle and a chair. Reflection for heroes as well as music and poetry will be shared.

Time: Monday, Sept. 11, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: Memorial Garden near 78th Street in Juniper Valley Park, Middle Village
