UPDATE: Cops arrest duo who stole a man’s phone and punched him in the head outside a Jamaica shop

Police have arrested two thieves who assaulted a man after stealing his phone outside of a store in Jamaica Hills.

At approximately 6:28 p.m. on Sept. 28, the 66-year-old man was talking on his cell phone in front of MIM Wireless, located at 167-05 Hillside Ave. While on the phone, an unknown individual approached the victim and grabbed his phone from his ear, fleeing the scene on foot westbound on Hillside Avenue.

The victim attempted to chase after the thief but was then punched in the side of the head by a second suspect, who also fled on foot.

Officers from the 107th Precinct responded to the scene. EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he is currently admitted in critical condition.

Following an ongoing investigation, police arrested Shyquan Kimble, 16, of Far Rockaway and Jaleel Steele, 16, of Jamaica. Both teens were charged with two counts of robbery and assault.
