Oktoberfest is taking place at Sunnyside Gardens Park this Saturday in an event featuring a beer garden, a pumpkin patch, and an arts and crafts fair with multiple vendors.
The popular event is scheduled for Oct. 7 between 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the park, located at 48-21 39th Ave.
The park’s picnic grove will be transformed into a Bier garden, where award-winning beer from Queens breweries will be served. Traditional German food will be available at the event, and attendees can also experience live music.
The Sunnyside Flea Arts & Crafts Fair, a key part of the park’s Oktoberfest festivities, will also take place during the day featuring vendors showcasing their artwork and craft for sale. The event usually draws about 20 arts and crafts vendors.
The pumpkin patch will also return for the festival, along with carnival rides, a climbing wall, and arts and crafts for kids. Prior festivals saw close to 1,000 pumpkins for kids to choose from.
The widely-popular, free festival tends to bring in about 2,000 attendees from all five boroughs, according to Sunnyside Gardens. The festivals scheduled for 2015 and 2016 were cancelled due to inclement weather. Organizers this year say the date may be subject to change as well if rain occurs (rain date set for Oct. 8).
The event is open to the public, and organizers are still seeking interested arts and crafts vendors. Details for vendors can be found here.
