Queens man shot dead close to his home in Springfield Gardens: police

A Springfield Gardens man was found dead after being shot in his neighborhood on Saturday, police said.

Authorities have identified the victim as Chaz Morrison of 182nd Street; he was discovered with gunshot wounds to his torso at 146th Terrace near Guy R. Brewer Boulevard at about 1:11 a.m. on Nov. 4, according to police.

The New York Daily News reported that Morrison engaged in a conversation with his unidentified attacker before being shot and managed to exit the car he was sitting in before collapsing on the sidewalk.

Officers from the 105th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about the shooting, discovered Morrison unconscious and unresponsive on the sidewalk, police said. EMS transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
