A Brooklyn man has been charged with assaulting a police officer in Maspeth on Tuesday afternoon who responded to a dispute in which he was involved, police said.
The incident occurred at around 1:05 p.m. on Jan. 23 in front of a home on Maspeth Avenue between Melvina Place and 59th Street.
According to law enforcement sources, Edward Wysk, 51, of Monitor Street in Greenpoint was involved in an argument with a second individual and a Department of Environmental Protection inspector at a construction site.
Officers from the 104th Precinct responded to a 911 call about the dispute. As the officers approached, authorities said, Wysk allegedly hurled a brick which subsequently struck one of the cops in the head.
Law enforcement sources said the injured officer suffered a laceration and was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for treatment and tests.
Both combatants were taken into custody; Wysk was charged with assault, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration. The case against the unidentified individual was sealed, police sources said. The DEP inspector was not charged or injured in the matter.
