The police released video Saturday of a suspect who entered an Astoria mosque earlier this month and rifled through a worshiper’s jacket pockets before stealing a cell phone and credit card.
The suspect entered Al-Iman Mosque, located at 24-30 Steinway Street, at around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19 and walked over to where several jackets were hanging. He then targeted one jacket where he stole the owner’s contents, police said.
The man then fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, clean shaving, and bald head. He was last seen wearing a blue jeans and black jacket.
