The Queens Council on the Arts (QCA) is giving local artists a chance to work on and display their works at two borough hotels.

The ArtHotel Residency will offer two Queens-based artists $3,000 stipends and a three-month period to work on their art at The Paper Factory Hotel in Long Island City and SpringHill Suites LaGuardia in Corona.

“ArtHotel Residency is not a traditional residency where the artists work in a place of isolation, but a place where artists retreat to create their work and have an opportunity to focus inwardly on it and share her/his process with the public,” the organization wrote on its website.

Artists must be Queens residents, 18 years or older and should not be enrolled in any “institutional programs of study” including instructional museum programs.

The chosen artists should also be present for a minimum of 20 hours of open studio time for three months. The deadline is Jan. 8 and the online application requires an artist statement, the proposed exhibition, resume, work samples and past publicity clips.

The winners will then present their work in the form of a public lecture, demonstration or exhibition.

Both hotels will provide artists with ample space in their lobbies to work on their creations as well as a separate storage space.

The QCA was founded in 1966 by Jeanne Dale Katz, the mother of current Queens Borough President Melinda Katz. It provides grants, professional development and education services to emerging artists and is also credited with advancing the development of the Queens Museum of ArtJamaica Center for Arts and Learning and the Colden Center at Queens College.
