Terminal One Party & KAAMCO Cargo Dinner

Terminal One Party & KAAMCO Cargo Dinner

The Kaamco Cargo Operations Committee held its annual dinner dance and honored Roberts Redes, Assistant Port Director Customs Border Protection as its Person of the Year.

Redes is a regularly seen figure at JFK. Bob is seen as a friend of the community; working through shipping issues and helping cargo managers remain compliant.

There was one surprise however, Phil Maddalena a former CBP officer, announced that the Columbia Association would donate $53,000 to the JFK 911 Memorial Fund.

Terminal One held their annual holiday party with Steve Rowland, Executive Operations, in the full holiday spirit. Steve Rowland spread the holiday cheer in the Christmas spirit with his holiday suit. It was a big hit with many party goers wanting to take a photo with him. He was almost as popular as Santa!

It has been a busy year for Terminal One with innovations and changes including a newly refreshed security line; a separate first class security portal; an outside security large pubic food court upstairs operated by Marair; new hi-end shopping boutiques from IS Shoppes; a planned new paid public passenger lounge; CBP Modified Egress international arrivals program; T1 Ambulift which is an on tarmac ambulance; building three new sit-down upscale restaurants; and a pilot program of self-check in. Rowland said, “We are improving the facilities and services we offer to our airline partners and our passengers leading Terminal One to a more efficient, passenger oriented, airline terminal worthy to be part of Governor Cuomo’s vision of a 21st Century Gateway at JFK Airport.”
