Police look for man who fired shots into Astoria playground where dead baby was found in the trash can

Detectives are still looking for a man who fired three shots into Dutch Kills Playground just two days after cops found a dead baby in a trash can near the same location.

According to police, at about 12:40 p.m. on Feb. 19, the suspect discharged his gun three times within the park, which is located at 36th Avenue and Crescent Street on the border of Astoria and Long Island City.

Officers from the 114th Precinct responded to the incident. No injuries were reported.

Police described the suspect as a black man, approximately 20 years old, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds.

Law enforcement sources say there is no known connection to the incident and the Feb. 17 discovery of the dead infant found near Dutch Kills Playground.
