Vaughn Career Days help job seekers connect

Vaughn College holds several student and job seeker Career days throughout the year. Whether it be a Vaughn based student event or partnership event with a local employment organizations which draws from the local community, all job seekers have a chance to meet with recruiters from a range of aviation companies.

Phil Meade and Jessica Caron of the Vaughn Career services department coordinate these events with job seekers and invite companies to meet with them. Recruiters at these events have tables, and representatives from recruiting companies who meet with interested job seekers, giving out literature on their company and vying to draw the best candidates from among the attendees to their company. Recently the Council of Airport Opportunity partnered with Vaughn College, Port Authority, and others to offer a wide range of jobs. The job offerings noted the increase of minimum hourly wages as provided by NY State as well as prospective airport increases currently proposed by the Port Authority.

Companies such as Delta, WFS, Thales, AVPorts, Endeavor, Summit Security, Vantage, Allegiant, Port Authority SSP and dozens more had their staff on hand to share the benefits of working with their companies.

There are pathways for some graduates from Vaughn, Farmingdale and the Aviation High School into top airlines such as Delta, AA and JetBlue at local airports. But there are any other opportunities for students from these institutions that are found at these career fairs.
