Corona man turns himself in after attacking an NYPD traffic agent in Jackson Heights

Corona man turned himself in to police custody on Sunday, a month after he assaulted an NYPD traffic agent on a Jackson Heights street.

According to police, at 3:30 p.m. on May 29, a 46-year-old male traffic agent was walking in front of 84-18 Roosevelt Ave. when he as approached from behind by 27-year-old Jhon Correa-Quintero, who grabbed the victim by the back of the neck and forced him to walk several feet before pushing him to the ground.

Correa-Quintero, a resident of 55th Avenue in Corona, proceeded to kick and punch the victim several times throughout the body, causing the victim to sustain pain and swelling to the head, before fleeing the scene.

EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Queens General Hospital, where he was treated and released.

According to sources familiar with the case, Correa-Quintero turned himself in to the 110th Precinct‘s Elmhurst stationhouse on June 24. He was arrested and charged with assault, menacing and harassment.
