A notorious Sunnyside property manager, who made headlines for displaying images of Hitler and Stalin in the lobby of the building he once managed, was cleared of stalking and harassment charges earlier this week.
Neal Milano, 71, was found not guilty of seven counts of stalking, harassment, and attempted assault by a Queens Criminal Court judge on Monday, the New York Post reported.
Milano, who decorated the lobby at 47-55 39th Pl. with Nazi and Confederate imagery, was subject to a city and state investigation into alleged tenant harassment. He was also accused of stalking and harassing a 43-year-old woman.
The woman alleged she was grabbed by Milano multiple times between September 2016 and July 2017, which caused her alarm and annoyance, according to the police complaint. Milano’s arrest came in early September, where he was released on a $2,500 bail.
Milano reportedly said on Monday that the case should have been thrown out months ago. “There is no complaining witness and no evidence!” he said, according to the Post.
In a separate case that concluded in February, Milano and two board members of the Sunnyside condo had to resign following an investigation by the NYC Commission on Human Rights. The displays in the lobby depicting offensive materials also had to be taken down as part of the settlement.
