A dog rescued from a car in Long Island City (108 Precinct)

Multiple dogs were rescued over the weekend after being left inside a hot car, police say.
Officers from the 108th Precinct responded to several calls about dogs in a car at around 11 a.m. on July 1, according to police. Four Pit Bulls, police say, were found inside a van near 24th Street and 43rd Avenue.
Police got the dogs out through an unlocked back passenger door, and said the dogs had no water and were subject to extreme heat–exacerbated by the heat wave–for several hours.
The dogs were all sent to Animal Care and Control center, and are expected to be O-K, according to police.
Police have also made an arrest in the case–Romulus Lutchmansingh, 44, was arrested shortly after the dogs were rescued on charges of animal cruelty.
