Police released on July 24 video footage of the man whom they say recently tried to rape a woman on an Ozone Park street.
The attack occurred at 2:30 a.m. on June 29 in the vicinity of Glenmore Avenue and 79th Street, a residential area of the neighborhood.
According to law enforcement sources, the 30-year-old victim was walking through the area when the suspect began following her. Seconds later, authorities said, the perpetrator grabbed the woman by the neck and tried to push her to the ground.
The woman managed to fight the suspect off and cried out for help while running away from the man, who also fled the scene, police said.
Officers from the 106th Precinct responded to the scene; the victim was not injured in the attack, and refused further medical assistance at the scene.
Police described the suspect as a black man between 20 and 30 years of age, standing 6 feet tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt and dark pants.
