Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man wanted in connection to a series of burglaries in Kew Gardens Hills.
It was reported to law enforcement that three burglaries occurred inside the Khal Degel Israel Synagogue Community Center located at 144-02 68th Dr.
The first incident happened on Thursday, June 14. At 11:40 p.m. that day, police say that an unidentified man entered the synagogue through an unlocked front door and entered the kitchen. The suspect allegedly stole $100 in cash before fleeing through the front door.
The second incident occurred a day later on Friday, June 15 at 11 p.m. Police said that the same man entered the unlocked front door and went into the kitchen. Similar to the first burglary, the suspect removed $200 and fled through the front door of the synagogue.
A few months later, the suspect hit the synagogue for the third time. On Friday, Sept. 21 at 11 p.m., the thief allegedly entered the establishment’s unlocked front door, entered the kitchen and took a mere $20 in cash before fleeing.
Police describe the suspect as a 25 to 30-year-old Hispanic man, standing at 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He has a light complexion and slim build with brown eyes and short black hair. Police said he was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black jeans and white sneakers.
