FLUSHING — An elderly man was found dead in the road early Sunday in Flushing after he was allegedly struck by a vehicle on Northern Boulevard, police said.

Police responded to a 911 call at 5:19 a.m. Sunday morning and found an unconscious male lying in the street at Northern Boulevard and 108th Street, according to authorities.

Police said the man, 70, was unresponsive with trauma to the head and body. EMS arrived and announced the man dead at the scene.

The identity of the man is pending proper family notification.

A preliminary investigation determined that the male was struck at the intersection by a Toyota Highlander operated by a 40-year-old female traveling eastbound on Northern Boulevard. The driver remained at the scene and hasn’t been charged, according to police.

The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad has responded and the investigation is ongoing.
