Senior woman dies of injuries following a hit-and-run in St. Albans

A 70-year-old woman has died of her injuries after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run in St. Albans.

According to police, at 7 a.m. on Sept. 25, officers from the 113th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a vehicle collision at Linden Boulevard and 169 Street. Upon their arrival, officers found Clara Duran-Rodriguez, 70, lying in the road with trauma to her head and hips.

A preliminary investigation found that Duran-Rodriguez was heading west on Linden Boulevard when she attempted to cross the street midblock. She was then struck by an unknown vehicle, which fled the scene after they hit Duran-Rodriguez.

EMS responded to the location and rushed Duran-Rodriguez to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
