Police Search for Subway Purse Snatcher

Police have released video surveillance footage of a man who snatched a woman’s purse from her lap at the 30th Avenue (N/W) subway station last month.

Police say that the theft took place on a Astoria-bound W train on Sept. 27 at 6:50 p.m. As the train stopped at the station, the man grabbed a 33-year-old woman’s purse from her lap and ran off the train.

The man dropped the woman’s purse inside the subway station and took off in an unknown direction.

Police describe the suspect as a dark-skinned man who is 25 to 30 years old and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white sneakers and carrying a black backpack.
