The Queens Boy Scouts of America (QBSA) held its 2018 Aviation Luncheon on September 26 in at one of the most interesting event venues on Long Island, The Cradle of Aviation which hosted the event, to 250 members of the diverse aviation community from JFK, Newark and LaGuardia airports.

Held annually the QBSA recognizes outstanding professionals and role models in the aviation community with its “Good Scout” award. This year’s honorees were Frank McIntyre, Board Member of the JFK International Airport Chamber of Commerce, Business Manager of the JFK Rotary and social responsibility leader for many JFK events and community affairs; Henry Kuykendall, Regional VP for Delta Air Lines; and Cubie Dawson, Vice President Business Development for the retail specialist, Hudson Group.

The annual luncheon brings together other past and future leaders from JFK and LaGuardia Airports as well as supporters of the Boy Scouts and the role they play in youth development. As a testament to supporting today’s boys and girls, the Aviation High School Honor Guard performed their precision march and music for the luncheon guests. Honoree Henry Kuykendall, Regional VP at Delta Air Lines, praised the Queens Boy Scouts by saying he had a motto for them, “ No one better prepares the kids for the world”, meaning the same skills one learns as a youth become life long values. Mike Sibilia, of the Greater NY Scouts Council amplified this and said, “Scouts prepare the youth to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law”. He also thanked the loyal and generous support of all the guests at the event for funding the work of providing guidance to the hundreds of thousands Scout in the greater NY area.

Frank McIntyrye, the favorite son of JFK, humbly accepted his award to the broad support of the people who work and know his dedication to the well being of the people in the JFK Airport community.
