JFK Chamber of Commerce honored Joanna Geraghty, president and COO JetBlue at the October luncheon. Members of the airport and business community listened to a question and answer period hosted by Jim Groark of Cathay Pacific and Board member of the Chamber. Geraghty was straightforward with answers on JetBlue fiscal health, competition, social responsibility and future plans for the airline. She said that she welcomed competition and “disruption” within the industry because it keeps everyone being competitive. One person asked about JetBlue beginning TransAtlantic service. Geraghty was not able to state definitively this would happen and again referred to good “disruption”. Geraghty spoke at this luncheon just days before The Port Authority announced its acceptance of investment by JetBlue as part of a major redevelopment at JFK Airport. now in it’s infant stages of planning. JetBlue will develop the Southern end of the airport encompassing terminals areas, 5, 6 & 7, while Terminal One Group will develop Terminals 1,2 and 3.
