Detectives booked a Corona man on Wednesday less than two weeks after he allegedly raped a woman near a Brooklyn park.

Mowngly Lucas, 28, was arrested on Nov. 28 on charges of rape, robbery, strangulation, burglary, sexual abuse and unlawful imprisonment.

According to authorities,  at 4 a.m. on Nov. 18, Lucas allegedly approached a 59-year-old woman from behind inside of Prospect Park, in the vicinity of Parkside Avenue and Parade Place, and put her in a chokehold.

Police said that Lucas allegedly told the victim that he had a knife and a gun, and would harm her if she didn’t comply with his demands.

Law enforcement sources said that Lucas allegedly proceeded to push the victim up against a van and tried to sexually assault her. When he was unsuccessful, Lucas allegedly dragged the victim behind a bench and raped her.

After the assault, police said, Lucas allegedly broke the window of a parked van and forced the victim inside and attempted to sexually assault her again. He was ultimately unsuccessful, and Lucas allegedly took $10 from the victim’s purse and told her to leave. Lucas then allegedly fled the scene on foot down Parkside Avenue.

Lucas was arrested less than a day after the NYPD released security camera footage of the suspect in the case.
