A unfinished turn lane installed at the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and Myrtle Avenue has gotten the attention of Councilman Robert Holden, who called on the city Department of Transportation to finish the job.
Holden said that the unmarked turn lane is difficult to make out in the rain and nearly caused one of his staffers to run into the newly formed median during the Nov. 6 downfall.
“After installing a new median to separate the left turning lane on Woodhaven Boulevard at Myrtle Avenue from the rest of traffic, the median is still without painted lines and hardly any signage to warn drivers several days later,” Holden said. “Yesterday (Nov. 6), while driving in the rain, one of my staff members nearly ran into the median because it was difficult to see. Safety should be the top priority, that was the reason for these changes in the first place, and anything less is unacceptable.”

While Holden posted the call for the turn lane’s completion in a social media post on Wednesday, a DOT spokesman told QNS the contractor who will lay the markings expects to have the work done by Thursday night.
