Death of East Elmhurst man found with facial trauma on Astoria street ruled a homicide: cops

The death of a man who was found dead on an Astoria street over the summer has officially been ruled a homicide, police announced on Friday.

According to authorities, at 12:48 a.m. on Aug. 9, police responded to a 911 call regarding an unconscious man on 18th Street. Upon their arrival, they found 48-year-old Cary Martin, of Hazen Street in East Elmhurst, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma about the face.

EMS rushed Martin to Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens, where he was pronounced dead.

Following an ongoing investigation, the Medical Examiner ruled Martin’s death a homicide on Dec. 28.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
