A Ridgewood man died of his injuries after he was hit by a car while trying to cross the street last month, police announced on Thursday.

According to authorities, at 7:13 p.m. on Nov. 26, officers from 104th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Grove Street and Cypress Avenue.

Upon their arrival, the officers saw emergency personnel providing care to 52-year-old Jorge Segundo, of Greene Avenue, who was suffering from head trauma.

EMS rushed Segundo to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he ultimately died of his injuries on Nov. 29.

An investigation found that Segundo was crossing Grove Street at the crosswalk just before the collision. A gray 2006 Honda CRV, operated by a 22-year-old man, was turning left onto Grove Street from Cypress Avenue, striking Segundo.

The driver remained at the scene following the collision. He was issued a summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
