The large Astoria music venue Studio Square NYC has closed.
After Queens Community Board 1 reached out to Studio Square NYC in regards to renewing their liquor license on Nov. 10, management confirmed that they there would be no need since the business would be closing their doors.
Since its opening in 2009, the space has held countless concerts and parties. Its 3,000 square feet could accommodate up to 900 people, making it one of the largest event space is Astoria. Multiple neighbors of the event space complained about noise levels at Community Board 1 meetings on Sept. 20 and Oct. 16.
It remains unclear if the complaints had to do with Studio Square’s closure.
The event space’s landlord reached out to Community Board 1 District Manager Florence Koulouris and said that he hoped to be able to put a family-style restaurant at the now vacant space.
The owners of Studio Square NYC could not be reached for comment, as their phone line has been disconnected.
