Each year, Healthgrade analyzes nearly 4,500 hospitals across the United States and evaluates their performance in providing quality care for multiple conditions and procedures.

Based on its overall performance, Jamaica Hospital was ranked in the top 5 percent in the nation for clinical excellence and selected as one of America’s 250 best hospitals for the second consecutive year.

“We applaud the recipients of the Healthgrades America’s 50, 100 and 250 best hospitals for their long-standing commitment to quality and superior outcomes,” said Dr. Brad Bowman, chief medical officer at Healthgrades. “As hospitals across the country continue to fearlessly treat patients during the time of COVID-19, it has never been more important to recognize those organizations that are delivering the highest-quality care.”

Jamaica Hospital also scored highly in specialized areas of care and earned the 2021 America’s Best Coronary Intervention and America’s 100 Best Stroke Care awards, as well as the 2021 Excellence awards for cranial neurosurgery, neurosciences, gynecological surgery and pulmonary care.

Healthgrades will also present Flushing Hospital with the 2020 Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award as well as the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award.

“We are extremely honored to be recognized among the nation’s best healthcare institutions by Healthgrades,” Medisys Health Network President and CEO Bruce J Flanz said. “Both our hospitals were among the hardest hit during the peak of the pandemic. We faced many difficulties. However, our determination to save lives and help our communities heal never faltered. I thank each employee for demonstrating resilience and making it possible for our hospitals to receive multiple quality and performance awards.”

Flanz explained that achieving high rankings and accolades from Healthgrades demonstrate that members of the community do not have to leave Queens to receive the best in medical care.
