Police from the 112th Precinct are looking for a man in connection to a grand larceny that occurred earlier this month at the Rego Park shopping center alongside the Long Island Expressway.

Investigators have an edge in this case because the alleged perpetrator was apparently unaware that modern elevators are equipped with security cameras.

On the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 14, the suspect entered one of the elevators at the Costco at 61-35 Junction Boulevard carrying a wallet he had taken from a 40-year-old woman inside the store.

He then proceeds to check out the contents of the wallet which contained several credit cards and an unknown amount of cash, police said.

The man then made multiple unauthorized purchases with the credit cards.

The man had noticeable tattoos on both forearms and he was wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt, white shorts and nike flip flops.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782).
