The remnants of Hurricane Ida dumped nearly 7 inches of rain in the area of Flushing, LaGuardia Airport and Corona, which represents the highest total in Queens, according to the National Weather Service.

Trees were down on Nichols Avenue and on 104th in Corona and had yet to be cleared by midday Thursday. According to the New York City Parks Department, there were 37 reports of downed trees throughout the borough as of Thursday morning.

“We have forestry crews inspecting and addressing storm-related tree issues in addition to staff assessing citywide impacts to our park system,” a NYC Parks spokeswoman said. “We ask for patience as conditions across the city are causing closures and delayed openings.”

She added that tree conditions should be reported to 311.

As for the parks themselves, they came through the storm relatively unscathed.

However, in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, there was flooding in certain areas as stormwater from the Grand Central Parkway and the Van Wyck Expressway ran off into areas of the park, particularly near Meadow Lake.

There was also more reported flooding in NYC Parks facilities across Queens. A Parks spokesperson said workers are checking for sinkholes and additional tree damage.
