Among the victims in the flooding brought on by Hurricane Ida in Queens last week was a woman who was discovered by officers from the 114th Precinct around 10:45 on the morning of Sept. 2.

Police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision on the Grand Central Parkway near the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and found an unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive woman inside a burnt vehicle, which police believe was involved in a previous vehicle collision the night before.

EMS responded and pronounced her dead at the scene.

“The latest victim that we have is an individual that passed away after a vehicle accident on the Grand Central Parkway, and that individual was discovered in the backseat of the car,” Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said during a storm briefing with Governor Kath Hochul on Sept. 2. “We pray that the number does no go up from there and certainly the NYPD and all city workers, our hearts go out to all the victims for this terrible tragedy.”

The victim was not identified pending proper family notification.

The NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
