Queens man cuffed for shooting that left man dead over the summer

Police took a man into custody on Tuesday in connection to a shooting that left a man dead in Queens over the summer.

On Oct. 5, officers arrested 22-year-old Omar Prado for the murder of 29-year-old Kelvin Gomez. Prado was charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.

According to police, at 5:08 p.m. on June 2, officers responded to a call regarding an assault near 57-04 108th Street in Corona. Upon their arrival, cops found Gomez lying on the sidewalk, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to his head.

Gomez was rushed by paramedics to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced dead.

At this time, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
