Douglaston Development announced Monday that they will be partnering with Project Destined to launch an in-person summer internship program and a virtual fall mentorship program for college students.

Through these programs, students will be able to get an in-depth look at the business operations at Douglaston Development, Clinton Management and Levine Builders to help grow their knowledge surrounding multiple facets of the real estate industry.

Among the business operations that the students participating in the internships will be studying are real estate development, property management and construction management. According to The Douglaston Companies founder Jeffrey E. Levine and Project Destined co-founder Cedric Bobo, the hands-on experience provided should be crucial to the students.

“We’re thrilled to be engaging with Project Destined and to be providing students affiliated with the organization experience not only in the real estate development field but simultaneously the property and construction management industries,” Levine said. “We are always looking for opportunities to help cultivate, inspire and engage with the next generation of the workforce and are looking forward to our continued partnership with Project Destined.”

Those in the programs will take part in the in-house team meetings and off-site visits to the gamut of projects currently underway across New York City. They will also participate in ongoing mentorship programs and lunch-and-learn sessions with executive and management-level staff. This will all help them become immersed in the day-to-day operations of the companies.

“We are excited to partner with The Douglaston Companies to prepare this incredible group of students for a career in commercial real estate,” Bobo said. “The real estate industry provides unparalleled opportunities to build a great career while also impacting your community and your city. This partnership will ensure that these students are ready to take on that challenge.”

The summer internship program is scheduled to begin in mid-June at Douglaston Development’s New York City headquarters. The virtual fall mentorship program is scheduled to begin following the conclusion of the internship program in late August.

The real estate development company Douglaston Development specializes in several different projects, including mixed-use developments, high-rise mixed-income rentals and market-rate condominiums, hospitality, senior communities and commercial spaces. It is one of the only owner-builder-managers in the industry with expertise in successful acquisition, ground-up and rehabilitation construction and management of properties post-development. In addition to New York, the company has expanded to states like Arizona and Washington.

Project Destined is a leading social impact platform, providing training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and real estate. The organization partners with corporations, schools and nonprofits to deliver training using its proprietary e-learning platform and live courses. Students work with executives to evaluate live deals in their community and present them in a pitch competition to industry leaders. Project Destined aims to help scholars emerge with skills, confidence, experiences and networks necessary to prepare them to secure a solid first job and to become stakeholders in their community.
