This weekend is both Father’s Day and Juneteenth, so spend some time with loved ones at these fun events happening in Queens.
On Friday, the Queens Jazz Orchestra will perform at Flushing Town Hall with a concert honoring Phil Schaap and Charlie Parker. On Saturday, head to Long Island City for the LIC Springs! block party. On Sunday, celebrate Juneteenth with a Juneteenth New York Music Month Concert.

GET TESTED AND VACCINATED
Before doing anything in person, get tested for COVID-19 and get vaccinated and boosted! Also, don’t forget to wear your mask indoors and socially distance wherever possible.

Queens Jazz Orchestra: “Bird Flight” Honoring Phil Schaap and The Genius of Charlie Parker (Flushing Town Hall): Enjoy a performance by the Queens Jazz Orchestra, which will be putting on a show to honor radio legend Phil Schaap and jazz genius Charlie Parker. Juneteenth Celebration (Lewis H Latimer House): This is an all-ages event to celebrate the “joyous freedom of African American culture.” Participants will get to take part in a poetry and portraiture mini-workshop with Quentin Felton, a Sow the Seeds workshop with artist Dario Mohr, creating “Our Juneteenth Flag Installation” with artist Sophia Chizuco and the art of Reiki with master teacher Erica Thomas Collier. Queensboro Dance Festival – Celebrating Juneteeth (Leavitts Park): This free event features performances from Cole Collective, Flamenco Latino, Kinding Sindaw, Kofago Dance Ensemble, Fruto Ancestral, Umami Playground and Rudanceny.
