With the shovels ready to hit the ground on the new $9.5 billion New Terminal One at JFK International Airport later this summer and the $8 billion redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport nearing completion, Queens Borough Hall announced Tuesday that the focus of its monthly jobs fair will be on the aviation industry.

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards will host the Queens Aviation Jobs Fair in partnership with the Council for Airport Opportunity (CAO) in person on Thursday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Kennedy and LaGuardia airports are more than just gateways to the entire New York region. They are two of the largest drivers of the Queens economy, supporting tens of thousands of jobs and generating billions of dollars in economic activity,” Richards said.

More than 35 companies in the borough’s burgeoning aviation sector will participate in the aviation jobs recruitment fair including JetBlue, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, Endeavor Air, Airway LLC, OTG Management, Villa Restaurant, Prosegur Security, Modern Aviation, EULEN America, Worldwide Flight Services and more. These companies are filling vacant positions for pilots, flight attendants, customer service representatives, food service workers, security guards, retail workers, drivers, technicians, ground service personnel and logistics personnel.

CAO Executive Director Andrew Campbell said, “These two airports are the economic engines of Queens. We want to ensure that the local Queens community has access to these employment opportunities and benefits from the economic development being generated by the redevelopment of both JFK and LaGuardia.”

The CAO opened its new Rockaway Career Center last month at 1931 Mott Ave. in Far Rockaway to educate, train and connect local job seekers with airport employers and to generate business opportunities for local businesses.

“This job fair is a great opportunity for job seekers to connect directly with airport employers,” Campbell said.
Queens Borough Hall has been hosting monthly in-person job fairs on the last Thursday of each month since March, facilitating hundreds of connections between employers and job seekers. Richard also held a series of virtual job fairs earlier during the pandemic.

Walk-ins will be welcome at the June 30 job fair, although it is recommended that participants RSVP in advance here.

“As the redevelopment of both airports continues and thousands of jobs are created, we are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that we are hiring locally right here in our borough,” Richards said. “Our June 30 job fair will help us achieve that goal by enabling talented prospective employees to meet with the airlines and other aviation companies hiring right now.”
