An Alabama pickup truck driver was killed after he lost control on the Clearview Expressway in Hollis Hills Sunday evening.

Police from the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows responded to a 911 of a motor vehicle collision on the eastern edge of Cunningham Park near 82nd Avenue just before 6 p.m. and came upon the crash scene.

According to the NYPD, 50-year-old Jason Thomas Culver Johnson was driving a 1999 Ford 350 pickup truck with an empty flatbed trailer southbound on the Clearview Expressway near the Grand Central Parkway. A preliminary investigation determined that Johnson lost control of the vehicle and struck the divider and crossed over into the northbound lane where it struck a 2016 Acura MDX.

EMS responded to the scene of the collision and rushed Johnson to NewYork Presbyterian-Queens, where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD. Paramedics transported the 18-year-old driver of the Acura to Queens General Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad.
