Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr. is bringing a free mammogram screening service to Maspeth on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

The American-Italian Cancer Foundation will have its mammogram bus located outside of the Maspeth Federal Savings Bank branch, located at 56-18 69th St., from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to provide free mammogram screenings to women who register for the event through Addabbo’s office.

When it comes to cancer, especially breast cancer, it is vital to get tested routinely to increase your chances at early detection. Catching a cancer diagnosis early can mean the difference between life and death,” Addabbo said. “That is why I am proud to sponsor this event ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.”

In order to be eligible for the clinical breast exam, women must be:

  • Between 40 and 79 years old with health insurance.
  • Between 50 and 79 years old without health insurance.
  • Currently living in New York City.
  • Had not had a mammogram in the last 12 months.

Uninsured patients are welcome. There are no co-payments, and all deductibles are waived for this service. Although registration is preferred, walk-ins will be accommodated on a limited basis.

“I want to thank the American-Italian Cancer Foundation for bringing this great, free service back to my district, and to Maspeth Federal Savings Bank for always being a great community partner and allowing us to use their space. Please call my office to make an appointment,” Addabbo said.

To ensure that you are able to get a free mammogram screening, call Addabbo’s office at 718-738-1111 or the American-Italian Cancer Foundation at 877-628-9090 to make an appointment.
