Police continue to investigate a deadly Queens crash early Friday morning that claimed the lives of two male ATV riders.

Law enforcement sources said the victims, both in their 30s, smacked into the side of a semi-tractor trailer near the corner of Jackson Avenue and Queens Plaza South at about 1:49 a.m. on Aug. 19.

According to WABC-TV, it’s believed that the ATV riders were traveling the wrong way through the area when they collided with the truck. Police sources, however, could not immediately confirm that detail — nor could they confirm whether the ATV riders wore helmets.

Officers from the 108th Precinct responded to the scene. EMS pronounced one of the men dead at the scene; the other man died after being rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.

Police have yet to release their identities, pending family notification.

No charges have been filed against the truck driver at this time.

The case was presented to the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad for further inquiry.

ATVs are not permitted for use on the streets of New York City. In recent months, the NYPD has seized hundreds of illegal ATVs and dirt bikes off the streets and publicly destroyed them, claiming that their use poses a danger to the operators and other drivers alike.
