Channel View School for Research student Conare Lucas was one of 81 high school students accepted into CollegeAdvisor.com’s 2023 Scholars Program. Lucas was accepted into the program that had more than 500 applicants from around the world.

The CollegeAdvisor.com Scholars Program provides free, comprehensive admissions support to high school students like Lucas who have demonstrated a financial need and seek to continue their education. More than half of the 2023 scholars are first-generation college applicants or from historically underrepresented communities. Approximately 80% of the 2023 scholars identify as minority students.

“I feel like I’m finally ready to grow up and build connections,” Lucas said. “I am very grateful that [the CollegeAdvisor.com Scholars Program] chose me.”

Among the universities Lucas is currently considering attending are SUNY Binghamton University, University of Central Florida, Temple University, Texas A&M University and Auburn University. He intends to study either zoology, microbiology or environmental science.

Thanks in large part to the CollegeAdvisor.com Scholars Program, 81% of last year’s recipients were able to get into at least one of their top three college choices.

Since its inception in 2019, more than 200 CollegeAdvisor.com Scholars Program recipients have benefited from the program. Participation in this program has grown with each year, with a 125% increase of applicants year over year.

A dedicated and highly trained college admissions coach is matched up with each scholar to provide one-on-one counseling and customized support during all parts of the admissions process. The coach works with the scholar to develop essays, prepare for interviews, finalize their college lists and attend webinars and specialty workshops designed to guide them through every application milestone.

“We know that personalized college counseling and admissions support can have a direct impact on students’ college applications,” CollegeAdvisor.com Founder Brian Mitchell said. “We believe every student deserves the opportunity to continue their education, regardless of their financial situation and we will continue to donate these services to students who do not have the means to afford them so that every student has the same opportunity to go to their dream school.”

CollegeAdvisor.com provides affordable and accessible college admissions counseling and online tools and support to help students through the college application process. Its Scholars Program was designed to reinforce the organization’s commitment to equity and accessibility in higher education. The organization has donated more than $500,000 in services to students through its give-back programs, including the Scholars Program.

CollegeAdvisor.com is part of a collection of path-to-college solutions from Next College Student Athlete (NCSA), which offers virtual recruiting and admissions services to high school student-athletes, non-athletes and high school, club and college coaches. NCSA is a subsidiary of IMG Academy, one of the world’s largest and most advanced multi-sport training and educational institutions.

The application period for the 2024 CollegeAdvisor.com Scholars Program is scheduled to begin on June 1, 2023.

Lucas has also received another $500 BigFuture scholarship for creating and strengthening a college list, practicing for the SAT, exploring scholarships, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and applying for colleges. As he prepares to enter his senior year of high school, Lucas said he still intends to apply for more scholarships as he prepares to choose which university to attend.
